We’ll meet at the west entrance of Ikebukuro Station and then take the train together to Kawagoe.

We’ll stroll through a typical shotengai, one of those lively local shopping streets, as we make our way toward the main area of Kawagoe also called little Edo.

Old town Kawagoe (little Edo)
Once we arrive in Kawagoe’s old town, we’ll be greeted by beautiful traditional Kurazukuri houses, most of them dating back to the 19th and early 20th century. A few rare buildings are even older, like a merchant’s house from 1792. It’s truly impressive to see.

Street food
As we stroll through Little Edo, we can try some delicious local street food. The area is especially famous for unagi (eel), sweet potatoes, and senbei rice crackers perfect for a tasty little break along the way.
